Thepouched gerbil (Desmodilliscus braueri) is a species ofrodent in the familyMuridae. It is theonly species in thegenusDesmodilliscus and the subtribeDesmodilliscina.
It is found across western Africa from Mauritania east to Sudan. Its naturalhabitat is drysavanna.
This species is probably the smallest of the familia Muridae. It weighs 6 to 14 grams (0.21 to 0.49 oz), its length is 4 to 8 cm (1.6 to 3.1 in) without the shorter, poorly haired tail.[2]
