Postal codes in Indonesia, known inIndonesian askode pos, consist of 5 digits.

  • The first digit indicates the region in which a given post office falls in,
  • The second and third digits indicate theregency (kabupaten) orcity (kota madya),
  • The fourth digit indicates thedistrict orkecamatan within thekabupaten orkota,
  • The fifth digit indicates the commune orvillage orkelurahan/desa.

There is an exception forJakarta postal codes:[1]

  • The third digit indicates the district (kecamatan)
  • The fourth digit indicates the urban village (kelurahan)
  • The fifth digit is a "0".

2Northern half of Sumatra, comprising the provinces ofAceh,North Sumatra,West Sumatra,Riau andRiau Islands.

4The provinces ofBanten andWest Java (except those parts within the Jakarta metropolitan area[3]).

6The province ofEast Java.

8The provinces ofBali,West Nusa Tenggara andEast Nusa Tenggara (theLesser Sunda Islands).
9Sulawesi (Celebes),Maluku (Moluccas), andPapua (Western New Guinea).
