Fashion is a term used interchangeably to describe the creation ofclothing, footwear, accessories, cosmetics, andjewellery of different culturalaesthetics and their mix and match intooutfits that depict distinctive ways of dressing (styles andtrends) as signifiers ofsocial status,self-expression, and group belonging. As a multifaceted term, fashion describes anindustry, designs, aesthetics, and trends.

The term 'fashion' originates from the Latin word 'Facere,' which means 'to make,' and describes the manufacturing, mixing, and wearing of outfits adorned with specific cultural aesthetics, patterns, motifs, shapes, and cuts, allowing people to showcase their group belongings, values, meanings, beliefs, and ways of life. Given the rise in mass production ofcommodities and clothing at lower prices and global reach, reducingfashion's environmental impact and improvingsustainability has become an urgent issue among politicians, brands, and consumers. Yoga pants are high-denierhosiery reaching from ankle to waist, originally designed foryoga as exercise and first sold in 1998 byLululemon, a company founded for that purpose. They were initially made of a mix ofnylon andLycra; more specialised fabrics have been introduced to providemoisture-wicking,compression, and odour reduction.

The market has increased both through the popularity of yoga and because many women wear yoga pants as casual everyday dress. This is part of a long-term "athleisure" trend of increasing informality in dress, threatening sales of traditionaljeans. (Full article...)

ActorMatt Smith wearing a tweed three-piece suit

Asuit, also called alounge suit, business suit, dress suit, orformal suit, is a set of clothes comprising asuit jacket and trousers of identicaltextiles generally worn with a collareddress shirt, necktie, anddress shoes. Askirt suit is similar, but with a matchingpencil skirt instead of trousers. It is currently consideredsemi-formal wear or business wear in contemporaryWestern dress codes; however, when the suit was originally developed it was considered an informal or more casual option compared to the prevailing clothing standards of aristocrats and businessmen. The lounge suit originated in 19th-century Britain assportswear andBritish country clothing, which is why it was seen as more casual thancitywear at that time, with the roots of the suit coming from early modern Western Europe formal court or military clothes. After replacing the blackfrock coat in the early 20th century as regular daywear, a sober one-coloured suit became known as a lounge suit.

Suits are offered in different designs and constructions. Cut and cloth, whether two- or three-piece, single- or double-breasted, vary, in addition to variousaccessories. A two-piece suit has a jacket and trousers; a three-piece suit adds a waistcoat. Hats were almost always worn outdoors (and sometimes indoors) with all men's clothes until thecounterculture of the 1960s inWestern culture. Informal suits have been traditionally worn with afedora, atrilby, or aflat cap. Other accessories include handkerchief, suspenders or belt, watch, and jewelry. (Full article...)
