Tea is the second‑most‑consumed drink in the world, afterwater.

Adrink orbeverage is aliquid intended forhuman consumption. In addition to their basic function of satisfyingthirst, drinks play important roles in humanculture. Common types of drinks include plaindrinking water, milk, juice, smoothies andsoft drinks. Traditionallywarm beverages encompasscoffee, tea, andhot chocolate.Caffeinated drinks that contain the stimulantcaffeine, have been consumed for centuries.

In addition, alcoholic drinks such aswine, beer, andliquor, which contain the psychoactive substanceethanol, have been part ofhuman culture for more than 8,000 years.Non-alcoholic drinks typically refer to beverages that are traditionally alcoholic—such asbeer, wine, orcocktails—but are produced with a very lowalcohol by volume content. This category includes beverages that have undergone processes to remove or significantly reduce alcohol, such asnon-alcoholic beers and de-alcoholized wines. (Full article...)

Mixology is defined as the art or skill of preparing mixed drinks. At its core, the purpose of this practice is to craft cocktails. However, the science and skills required to successfully practice mixology are more intricate than what is seen at face value. The key to mixing drinks is knowing the ideal quantity of each ingredient needed to create the flavor profile required. hybrid skeletal structure of the caffeine molecule
hybrid skeletal structure of the caffeine molecule
Caffeine is acentral nervous system (CNS)stimulant of themethylxanthineclass and is the most commonly consumedpsychoactive substance globally. It is mainly used for itseugeroic (wakefulness promoting),ergogenic (physical performance-enhancing), ornootropic (cognitive-enhancing) properties; it is alsoused recreationally or insocial settings. Caffeine acts by blocking the binding ofadenosine at a number ofadenosine receptor types, inhibiting the centrallydepressant effects of adenosine and enhancing the release ofacetylcholine. Caffeine has a three-dimensional structure similar to that of adenosine, which allows it to bind and block its receptors. Caffeine also increasescyclic AMP levels through nonselectiveinhibition of phosphodiesterase, increases calcium release from intracellular stores, andantagonizesGABA receptors, although these mechanisms typically occur at concentrations beyond usual human consumption.

Caffeine is a bitter, white crystallinepurine, a methylxanthinealkaloid, and is chemically related to theadenine andguaninebases ofdeoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) andribonucleic acid (RNA). It is found in the seeds, fruits, nuts, or leaves of a number of plants native toAfrica,East Asia, andSouth America and helps to protect them against herbivores and from competition by preventing the germination of nearby seeds, as well as encouraging consumption by select animals such ashoney bees. The most common sources of caffeine for human consumption are thetea leaves of theCamellia sinensis plant and thecoffee bean, the seed of theCoffea plant. Some people drinkbeverages containing caffeine to relieve or prevent drowsiness and to improve cognitive performance. To make these drinks, caffeine is extracted bysteeping the plant product in water, a process calledinfusion. Caffeine-containing drinks, such as tea, coffee, andcola, are consumed globally in high volumes. In 2020, almost 10 million tonnes of coffee beans were consumed globally. Caffeine is the world's most widely consumedpsychoactive drug. Unlike most other psychoactive substances, caffeine remains largely unregulated and legal in nearly all parts of the world. Caffeine is also an outlier as its use is seen as socially acceptable in most cultures and is encouraged in some.[vague](Full article...)
