Introduction  

Canada is a country inNorth America. Itsten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and northward into the Arctic Ocean, making it thesecond-largest country by total area, with thelongest coastline of any country. Itsborder with the United States is the longest international land border. The country is characterized by a wide range of bothmeteorologic andgeological regions. Witha population of over 41 million, it has widely varying population densities, with the majority residing inits urban areas and large areas being sparsely populated. Canada's capital isOttawa andits three largest metropolitan areas areToronto,Montreal, andVancouver.

Adeveloped country, Canada has ahigh nominal per capita income globally and its advanced economy ranks among thelargest in the world by nominal GDP, relying chiefly uponits abundant natural resources and well-developedinternational trade networks. Recognized as amiddle power, Canada's support formultilateralism andinternationalism has been closely related toits foreign policies ofpeacekeeping andaid for developing countries. TheCanada jay (Perisoreus canadensis), also known as thegrey jay,gray jay,camp robber,moose bird,gorby, orwhisky jack, is apasserine bird of thefamilyCorvidae. It is found inboreal forests ofNorth America north to thetree line, and in theRocky Mountains subalpine zone south toNew Mexico andArizona. A fairly largesongbird, the Canada jay has pale grey underparts, darker grey upperparts, and a grey-white head with a darker greynape. It is one of three members of the genusPerisoreus, a genus more closely related to themagpie genusCyanopica than to other birds known asjays. The Canada jay itself has nine recognizedsubspecies. Lapensée in 1917

Albertine Lapensée (August 10, 1898 – January 7, 1963) was aCanadianice hockey player, often thought to be Canada's first female hockey "superstar". She played for the Cornwall Victorias, Cornwall Nationals, Cornwall All-Stars, and Hull Vestas in 1916 and Cornwall Ladies Hockey Club in 1917, when women's hockey enjoyed some prominence, as most of the healthy men were taking part in theFirst World War. It consists of a series of stars imbedded in 13 designated blocks worth of sidewalks in Toronto, located in front ofRoy Thomson Hall, thePrincess of Wales Theatre, and theRoyal Alexandra Theatre onKing and Simcoe streets.
