Pool's Cove is afishing village located on the north west side ofFortune Bay, on the South Coast ofNewfoundland,Canada. The town had a population of 188 in the2021 Census.[1] The town is approximately 200 kilometres (120 mi) southeast ofGrand Falls-Windsor.[2]
Historically, Pool's Cove has been an important location for the localfishing industry, and while fishing remains a part of its economy, the town has diversified in recent years especially in thelogging industry.[3]
Pool's Cove contains acommunity museum that showcases the local history and heritage, including the stories of nearby resettled communities.

The village is also the gateway to theBay du Nord River, a designatedCanadian Heritage River, which offers opportunities for backcountry wilderness recreation, including canoeing, kayaking, angling, and birdwatching.[4]
The current town mayor as of 2024 is Edmund Perham.[5]
In the2021 Census of Population conducted byStatistics Canada, Pool's Cove had a population of188 living in62 of its75 total private dwellings, a change of-2.6% from its 2016 population of193. With a land area of 2.65 km2 (1.02 sq mi), it had a population density of54.0/km2 (139.8/sq mi) in 2021.[1]
Pool's Cove is located on theConnaigre Peninsula, and can be accessed by drivingRoute 360 or taking the passenger ferry fromBay L'Argent on theBurin Peninsula. Access to Pool's Cove is unique as it is one of the stops on the ferry route connectingRencontre East toBay L'Argent.[6][7] The ferry service is passenger-only, meaning no vehicles are allowed.[8][4]


It's tough news for communities connected to Route 360 in the Coast of Bays area that rely on the hospital because the facility will be put on full diversion: ambulances will now have to travel over 200 kilometres north to the nearest hospital, in Grand-Falls Windsor.
