Pombia is acomune (municipality) in theProvince of Novara in theItalian regionPiedmont, located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) northeast ofTurin and about 20 kilometres (12 mi) north ofNovara. The commune is known for itsSafari Park, established in 1976.

History

It hasRoman origins when it was calledFlavia Plumbia. After the fall of theWestern Roman Empire and theLombardic conquest of northern Italy, it was the seat of a county, later, afterCharlemagne's conquest, ruled byFrank feudataries.
