Pomarea is a genus ofbirds in the monarch flycatcher familyMonarchidae. The genus is restricted to the islands ofPolynesia. The monarchs of this genus are around 15–19 cm long and most havesexually dimorphic plumage.

The genus is highly threatened, with three of the six remaining species listed ascritically endangered, oneendangered and twovulnerable. Three species have already becomeextinct. The principal threat to all these species is predation by theintroducedblack rat.
