
Point Martin is a point on the east side ofMossman Peninsula, 1.5 km (0.93 mi) north-west ofCape Murdoch, on the south coast ofLaurie Island in theSouth Orkney Islands ofAntarctica. It was charted in 1903 by theScottish National Antarctic Expedition underBruce, who named it for J. Martin, anable seaman on the expedition shipScotia.
The point has been identified as anImportant Bird Area (IBA) byBirdLife International because it supportsbreeding colonies of over 26,000 pairs ofAdélie penguins and 13,000 pairs ofchinstrap penguins.[1]
