Pogoanele (Romanian pronunciation:[poˈɡo̯anele]) is a town in the southeastern part ofCounty,Muntenia,Romania. The town administers one village, Căldărăști.
Pogoanele was declared a town in April 1989, as a result of theRomanian rural systematization program.[3] It is located in the south-central part of the county, in the middle of theBărăgan Plain, at about 40 km (25 mi) fromBuzău, the county seat. It is traversed by theDN2C [ro] road, which runs from Buzău toSlobozia. The railway station (3 km (1.9 mi) from the town center) is on theCFR line connectingUrziceni andFăurei.
