Poedit (formerlypoEdit) is ashareware andcross-platformgettext catalog (.po file) editor to aid in the process oflanguage localisation.[2] According toWordPress developer Thord Hedengren, Poedit is "one of the most popular programs" for editing portable language files.[3]

It is written inC++ and depends on some subclasses from thewxWidgets, but utilizesgraphical control elements from theGTK library.[4]
