Podsmreka pri Velikih Laščah (pronounced[pɔtˈsmɾeːkapɾiˈʋeːlikixˈlaːʃtʃax]) is a small settlement west ofVelike Lašče in centralSlovenia. The entire Municipality of Velike Lašče is part of the traditional region ofLower Carniola and is now included in theCentral Slovenia Statistical Region.[2]
The name of the settlement was changed fromPodsmreka toPodsmreka pri Velikih Laščah in 1987.[3]
TheSlovene writerJosip Stritar was born in the settlement in 1836. The house where he was born has been substantially remodeled, and acommemorative plaque with arelief portrait of the author was unveiled on it in 1936.[4]
