Placodontiformes is an extinctclade ofsauropterygianmarine reptiles that includesplacodonts and the non-placodontPalatodonta. It was erected in 2013 with the description ofPalatodonta. Placodontiformes is the mostbasal clade of Sauropterygia and thesister group ofEosauropterygia, which includes all other sauropterygians.[2]
