PlaceWare was a provider ofweb conferencing software, and was founded in 1996 by Xerox engineersPavel Curtis, Mike Dixon, and David Nichols as aspin-off fromXerox PARC.[1] Its first product, PlaceWare Auditorium, was rolled out in March 1997, and used by such companies asHewlett-Packard,Intel,Sun Microsystems, andPBS.[2]
Placeware was acquired byMicrosoft in 2003,[3] and its core product renamedMicrosoft Office Live Meeting.[4]
