Pinware is atown in theCanadian province ofNewfoundland and Labrador. The town has a population of 64, according to theCanada 2021 Census.[1]

The town is located alongRoute 510 inLabrador, betweenL'Anse-au-Diable andRed Bay.

The community has been formerly known as Riviere des François, Pirouette River, and Black Bay. It is believed the name is a corruption of Pied Noir (black foot) from the shape of a rock found at the mouth of Black Rock Brook.

Demographics

In the2021 Census of Population conducted byStatistics Canada, Pinware had a population of64 living in28 of its31 total private dwellings, a change of-27.3% from its 2016 population of88. With a land area of 4.08 km2 (1.58 sq mi), it had a population density of15.7/km2 (40.6/sq mi) in 2021.[1]

Its 2016 census count of 88 was a decrease from its 2011 population of 107.[2]

Economy
