Piliostigma is a genus offlowering plants in thelegume family,Fabaceae. It includes five species of small deciduous trees native to sub-Saharan Africa, the Indian subcontinent, Indochina, Java, the Philippines, and northern Australia.[1] It belongs to the subfamilyCercidoideae[2] and the tribe Bauhinieae.[3] It isdioecious, with male and female flowers on separate plants.[4]
