Virgilio is afrazione of thecomune (municipality) ofBorgo Virgilio in theProvince of Mantua in the Italian regionLombardy, located about 130 kilometres (81 mi) southeast ofMilan and about 6 kilometres (4 mi) south ofMantua. It was a separatecomune until 2014.
According to legend, the village of Andes (Pietole Vecchia), a short distance from the center of Pietole in modern Virgilio, is the birthplace of the Roman poetVirgil (70 BCE – 19 BCE).
