Phitti is a type ofleavenedbread baked by Hunzakut and NagarkutzPeople of Hunza and Nagar,Gilgit-Baltistan,Pakistan.[1]
Preparation involves mixingflour, water, salt,butter andyeast, with other ingredients such as milk being added depending on personal taste.[1] The dough thus prepared is placed in a metallic vessel called a Khimishdon inBurushaski and placed in a hearth which is preheated with a wooden fire.[2] Alternatively, phitti can also be baked in an oven.
Phitti is eaten with butter duringbreakfast, as a snack or light lunch along with a salted cup oftea.[1]
