Major GeneralPhillip David ProsserCBE is a British Army officer and engineer, who currently serves as Director Joint Support, UKStrategic Command. He previously served in theRoyal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and was commander of101 Logistic Brigade based in Aldershot. During theCOVID-19 pandemic, Prosser was head of the Army'sOperation Iron Viper to help Britain'sNational Health Service administer vaccines against the coronavirus.
Phillip Prosser is fromLlanelli, Wales. He was educated atBryngwyn Comprehensive School[1] before attendingWelbeck College inNottinghamshire where he completed his A Levels. Prosser then attended theRoyal Military Academy Sandhurst where he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1992. He later attended The Royal Military College of Science atShrivenham gaining a degree in mechanical engineering. He later completed anMBA from the Open University. He is acharteredmechanical engineer.[2][3]
Major General Prosser was the former commander of the British Army's101 Logistic Brigade.[4] He was commissioned in theRoyal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in 1992 and completed operational tours ofBosniaKosovo War,Iraq andAfghanistan. In 2010-11 he attended theAdvanced Command Staff Course for military officers tipped for senior leadership roles.[5]
He helped to distributePPE to hospitals during the first coronavirus lockdown in March 2020.[6][7]
In 2021 he was appointed head of the Army's Operation Iron Viper to help Britain'sNHS administerCOVID-19 vaccines during thecoronavirus pandemic in the UK.[2]
He was appointedCBE in the2021 New Year Honours.[8]
Brigadier Prosser was promoted toMajor General on 13 February 2023, as he took up the position as Director Joint Support at United Kingdom Strategic Command.[9]
