Phalanger (from the Greekphalangion, meaning spider's web, from their webbed (fused) toes[1]) is agenus ofpossums. Its members are found onNew Guinea, theMaluku Islands, other nearby small islands, and Australia'sCape York Peninsula. They aremarsupials of the familyPhalangeridae,[2] and are one of the four genera whose species are commonly referred to ascuscuses.
