Peyton Jacob III is anAmericanchemist andpharmacologist who has studiednicotine,methamphetamine,hallucinogens,entactogens, and otherpsychoactive drugs.[1][2] He is a researcher at theUniversity of California, San Francisco (UCSF).[1][2] Jacob extensively collaborated with and was close friends withAlexander Shulgin.[3][2] Among many other contributions, they developed theShulgin Rating Scale together[4] andmethylone was firstsynthesized and described by the pair in the mid-1990s.[5][6][7]
