Peter de Jersey (born 1965) is a British actor. He has played roles in television, including the long-timerecurring role of "Jerome Taylor" inThe Bill, and roles inBroadchurch andWarrior Nun.
From 2000 to 2003, de Jersey played Steve Waring inHolby City, until the character was involved in acar crash and subsequently died in hospital. Other television appearances includeDoctors andDalziel and Pascoe. In theNew Tricks episode "Father's Pride", he appeared alongside fellowHolby City actorJeremy Sheffield. He playedFrances Tomelty’s murdered husband in a 2020 episode ofDeath in Paradise.[2]
He appeared with theRoyal Shakespeare Company in 2008-09, where his parts included Orlando toSamantha Bond'sRosalind,Horatio toDavid Tennant's Hamlet, andOberon inA Midsummer Night's Dream. Having performed with theNational Theatre inHelen Edmundson's adaptation ofLeo Tolstoy'sWar and Peace, de Jersey was praised highly for his portrayal ofAntiochus inBelieve In What You Will. He also acted inRough Crossings, the theatreadaptation byCaryl Phillips fromSimon Schama's book.[citation needed]
His work involves a supporting role in the 2008 filmThe Bank Job, in which he portrayedMichael X, and playing the general Cominius in theDonmar Warehouse's 2013-14 production ofCoriolanus. Peter de Jersey played Gooper inTennessee Williams´Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at theNovello Theatre, London, performing alongsideJames Earl Jones,Phylicia Rashad andAdrian Lester.[3]
Peter de Jersey played Androgar in theDoctor Who 50th Anniversary episode "The Day of the Doctor" broadcast on 23 November 2013.
In 2023, de Jersey starred asVoltaire inThe Score at the Theatre Royal, Bath.[4] In May 2024, de Jersey starred as Vet inThe Book of Grace, staged at theArcola Theatre.[5]
