Peter Coonan (born 1984) is an Irish actor,[1] notable for his roles inKing of the Travellers (2012), andLove/Hate (2011–2014), for which he won Best Actor in a Supporting Role – Television at the11th Irish Film & Television Awards. Other credits includePenance (2018),Dublin Murders (2019),Arracht (2020),The Alienist: Angel of Darkness (2020),Cold Courage (2020),Doineann (2021),Peaky Blinders (2022), andBad Sisters (2022).
His first notable role was in 2011, when he played Dave 'Dots' Fennel in the Irish crime filmBetween the Canals.[2] and as Mickey Moorehouse inKing of the Travellers (2012).[1] He played a main role as Fran Cooney in theRTÉ One seriesLove/Hate (2011–2014),[3][4] for which he won Best Actor in a Supporting Role – Television at the11th Irish Film & Television Awards.
In 2022 he appeared as Connor Dunn inPeaky Blinders,[1] and as Ben inBad Sisters.[1]
In May 2014, Coonan's girlfriend, Kim O'Driscoll, gave birth to their baby girl, Beth, at theNational Maternity Hospital, Dublin.[5]
They became engaged in 2015. In 2017 their daughter Katie was born.[5]
