Pete Kaligis (born January 6, 1971) is an Americancollege football coach, currently the assistant head coach and defensive tackles coach atWake Forest University. A two-sport athlete at theUniversity of Washington infootball andtrack and field, he was a startingguard for the1991national champions, a three-timeRose Bowl participant, and an All-Americanshot putter. Kaligis has been an assistant coach for various college football programs since 1994.

Born and raised inBellingham, Washington, Kaligis graduated fromBellingham High School.

College

Kaligis playedcollege football at theUniversity of Washington from1990 to1993, where he was anoffensive lineman and an All-American in theshot put.[1]

Coaching

Following his playing career at Washington, Kaligis began a college football coaching career with stints atWestern Washington, Washington,Montana, andWyoming.

In2012, Kaligis acted as head coach for Wyoming againstBoise State while head coachDave Christensen served a one-game suspension following a profanity-laced tirade after a one-point loss toAir Force two weeks earlier.[2] Wyoming credits the entire season to Christensen.[3]

On December 2, 2021,Washington State University announced the hiring of Kaligis as both assistant head coach and defensive tackles coach.[citation needed] Kaligis took over as interim head coach on December 18, 2024, after head coachJake Dickert departed forWake Forest.[4]
