Petar Đurković (Петар Ђурковић, 1908–1981) was aSerbianastronomer known for discovering twoasteroids in 1936 and 1940, respectively.[1] One is named for the Serbian scientistMilutin Milanković,[2] the other forZvezdara, the hill inBelgrade where theBelgrade Astronomical Observatory is located.[3][4]
Asteroid1555 Dejan, discovered byFernand Rigaux, was named after Đurković's son (H 137).[5]
Đurković was the director ofBelgrade Observatory 1965-1970.[6] He was also president of theAstronomical Society Ruđer Bošković, the oldest astronomical society in theBalkans.[7]
