Sundaram Perumal Rajadurai (born 26 March 1967) is aSri Lankan attorney-at-law, politician and former member of parliament.

Early life and family

Rajadurai was born on 26 March 1967.[1] His family were estate workers at the Rockland estate in Udapussellawa.[2] He studied at Suriyagaha Pathana Tamil Vidyalayam and Ragala Tamil Vidyalayam.[3]

Career

Rajadurai is anattorney-at-law, actingmagistrate and president of the Nuwara EliyaRotary Club.[2][3]

Rajadurai contested the2010 parliamentary election as one of theUnited People's Freedom Alliance's (UPFA) candidates inNuwara Eliya District. He was elected and enteredParliament.[4][5] On 8 August 2013 Rajadurai left theCeylon Workers' Congress to sit as anindependent MP supporting UPFA.[6][7] He joined theNational Union of Workers as its deputy leader on 18 August 2013.[8]

Rajadurai resigned from the UPFA on 21 November 2014 to support common opposition candidateMaithripala Sirisena at thepresidential election.[9][10] He joined theUnited National Party (UNP) on 25 November 2014.[11] He was appointed the UNP organizer for Nuwara Eliya.[12] He failed to get re-elected at the2015 parliamentary election after coming eighth amongst theUnited National Front for Good Governance candidates.[13]
