Pedro Miguel de Barros Moreira (born 22 March 1975) is a Portuguesefootballmanager. He is currently head coach ofUzbekistan Super League clubPakhtakor.
After working as a long-term assistant to managerPaulo Fonseca, he started managing in his own right in 2022.
Born inLourenço Marques in the last months of thePortuguese Mozambique, Moreira started his career at Grupo Sportivo de Carcavelos, managing their under-13 and under-19 squad. He was later in charge of the youth sides ofOeiras,Olivais e Moscavide andFarense before becoming a youth coordinator at theAlgarve Football Association in 2006.[citation needed]
In 2009, Moreira joined the structure ofSporting CP, and was in charge of the club's under-11 side. In 2012, he becamePaulo Fonseca's assistant atPaços de Ferreira, later following him toPorto,Braga,Shakhtar Donetsk, andRoma, spanning nine years of service;[1] the association ended when Moreira did not follow Fonseca toLigue 1 sideLille.[2]
On 22 September 2022, Moreira was named in his first managerial job, atLiga Portugal 2 side,Torreense, replacingNuno Manta Santos at the 18th-placed team.[3] His debut nine days later was a 3–1 loss atBelenenses in theTaça de Portugal second round.[citation needed]
Moreira's firstLiga Portugal 2 game was a 1–0 home win overEstrela da Amadora on 8 October 2022.[4] After a 9th-placed finish, he left on 29 May 2023 as he opted to not renew his contract.[5]
On 21 November 2023, following the resignation ofFilipe Martins, Moreira was appointed manager ofCasa Pia, which sat in fifteenth place in the Primeira Liga table, signing a contract of an undisclosed length.[6] On 15 February 2024, after 3 wins, 2 draws and 6 losses in 11 matches under Moreira, Casa Pia, sitting 16th in the league table, announced that he had been sacked.[7][8]
On 4 December 2024,Uzbekistan Super League clubPakhtakor announced the signing of Moreira to a one-year contract, with the option of a second year.[9]
On 6 May 2025, Pakhtakor announced that Moreira was taking a leave by mutual agreement.[10]
