Pazderna (Polish:Październa) is a municipality and village inFrýdek-Místek District in theMoravian-Silesian Region of theCzech Republic. It has about 400 inhabitants.
The wordpazderna was a designation for the house whereflax was drying andshives (in Czechpazdeří) was obtained. The village was probably founded around such a house.[2]
Pazderna is located about 5 kilometres (3 mi) east ofFrýdek-Místek and 15 km (9 mi) southeast ofOstrava. It lies in the historical region ofCieszyn Silesia, in the western part of theMoravian-Silesian Foothills. The Pazderůvka brook flows through the municipality.
The first written mention of Pazderna is from 1573, when it was part of theFrýdekstate country and had 14 homesteads. It was probably founded only a few years ago.[2] It was then mentioned asPazdierna in the document sealing the selling of Frýdek byStanislav II Pavlovský, Bishop of Olomouc, to Bartholomew von Wrbno.[3] AfterWorld War I and fall ofAustria-Hungary, it became a part ofCzechoslovakia.
