Pavonini is atribe ofbird in the subfamilyPhasianinae. Members of this family are primarily found in tropicalAsia, along with one species in theCongo Rainforest inAfrica. It contains two of the most charismatic members of thePhasianidae, thepeafowl and thearguses. This grouping was supported by a 2021 phylogenetic analysis ofGalliformes, and accepted by theInternational Ornithological Congress. The tribe name is accepted by theHoward and Moore Complete Checklist of the Birds of the World.[1][2][3][4]
