Paula Jo Weishoff (born May 1, 1962) is a retired femalevolleyball player from theUnited States and three-time Olympian who played with theUnited States women's national volleyball team.[1][2] As a middle blocker, Weishoff won a silver medal at the1984 Summer Olympics inLos Angeles[3] and a bronze medal at the1992 Summer Olympics inBarcelona, where she was named as the tournament's outstanding player.[1][4][5] She also competed at the1996 Summer Olympics inAtlanta.[1]
While representing the United States, Weishoff won a bronze medal at the1982 FIVB World Championship, a silver medal at the1983 Pan American Games, a bronze medal at the1986 Goodwill Games, and a gold medal at the1995 FIVB World Grand Prix.[4]
Weishoff was inducted into theInternational Volleyball Hall of Fame for her career achievements in 1998.[1]
In 1980, after graduating fromWest High School inTorrance, California, Weishoff played volleyball with theUniversity of Southern California for one season.[4] She helped her team win the NCAA Championship, and was selected as an All-American.[4]
After retiring as a player, Weishoff became a volleyball coach. She was the head coach of theConcordia University women's volleyball team, and then transferred to theUniversity of California, Irvine to coach the women's team.[6]
Weishoff served under head coachHugh McCutcheon of theUnited States women's national volleyball team for the2012 Summer Olympics inLondon, as an assistant coach along withKarch Kiraly.[7][6]
Weishoff is 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m). She was married to Karl Hanold.[7][8]
