Paul Francis Waldau (born January 16, 1950) is an American ethicist and former professor atCanisius College inBuffalo,New York, where he headed the graduate program onanthrozoology, which he founded. He has several times served as Barker Lecturer inanimal law atHarvard Law School, and is the author of a number of books onanimal rights andspeciesism.[1]

Waldau has also served as the legal director of theGreat Ape Project, which campaigns for rights forchimpanzees,gorillas andorangutans.[2]

He has served as President of theReligion and Animals Institute since 2003.[3]
