Patsy Chapman

Patsy Chapman (born 3 May 1948) is a formerBritishnewspaper editor.

Chapman grew up inRomford and worked on the magazineBoyfriend before becoming a reporter with theRomford Times. She then joinedThe Sun and was gradually promoted to become Deputy Editor. In 1988, she swapped jobs withWendy Henry to become Editor of theNews of the World.[1]

In 1990, Chapman chaired the group which drew up the code of conduct that thePress Complaints Commission subsequently enforced.[2] She was then a member of the first Commission.[3]

Chapman stepped down as editor ofNews of the World in 1993 due to illness.[4]
