Patrick Weathers is an American musician, actor andcomedian, who appeared as a cast member onseason 6 ofSaturday Night Live from 1980 to 1981.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
After college, Weathers moved to New Orleans, where he began working withThe Meters. Moving to New York City, he performed alongsideRun DMC before getting a job atStudio 54 which led to an audition forSaturday Night Live.[7]
Among the characters Weathers played wasBob Dylan.[8] He also playedRavi Shankar, the musician who introducedThe Beatles to Indian music. Weathers was friends withDavid Sheffield, who became a prominent writer on the show then collaborator on manyEddie Murphy comedies.
Weathers had a successful musical career, prior to his year onSNL, and returned to music afterwards, releasing threealbums, and settling inNew Orleans.[1][9][10] He owns several art galleries there, and appeared in theWill Ferrell comedyThe Campaign.[11]
Some of the names here will be familiar only to die-hard fans; others, like Murphy, defined what was funny for generations of viewers.
I am joined this week by former SNL cast member, Patrick Weathers. He was on the show during its infamous sixth season, and appeared opposite Ferrell in The Campaign. I asked him how much fan service we might see tonight – any chance Gene Frenkle might return for another cowbell rendition?! "I'm sure we'll have some surprises [tonight], but not everything will be new, for the sake of fans and nostalgia," says Weathers.

Post SNL Career: Weathers has been keeping busy with bit parts. He's been in everything from Oliver Stone's Wall Street to The Campaign to the 2016 mini-series, Roots.
Weathers, 65, has released three albums and has had bit parts in movies like "Wall Street" and "Grande Isle." He also appeared on New Orleans-based HBO show "Treme," where he also currently resides in real life.
