Patrick Payton (born September 28, 2002)[1] is an Americancollege footballdefensive end for theLSU Tigers. He previously played for theFlorida State Seminoles. He was named the2022 ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Payton attendedMiami Northwestern Senior High School inMiami, Florida.[2] As a junior, he had 17.5 sacks. He committed toFlorida State University to playcollege football.[3][4]
After redshirting his first year at Florida State in 2021, Payton earned playing time in 2022.[5][6] He played in 13 games, finishing with 31 tackles and five sacks and was named theACC Defensive Rookie of the Year.[7]
On December 18, 2024, Payton announced that he would enter the transfer portal.[8]
On December 21, 2024, Payton announced that he would transfer toLSU.[9]
