Patrick Henry High School is a publichigh school inAshland,Virginia inHanover County. The name of the school, as well as the name of its literary publications,The Voice,The Spark, andThe Orator, reference the history of AmericanFounding FatherPatrick Henry.

The school was initially consolidated from Montpelier, Beaverdam, Henry Clay, and Rockville high schools in the 1959 to form the new Patrick Henry High School. The first entrants of the new school were the class of 1960. The school celebrated its 50th anniversary in September 2009.[3]

Patrick Henry High has anInternational Baccalaureate program,[4] as well as aNJROTC program.[5]

Athletics

The school is rivals withMechanicsville High School.[6]

Infootball, the school won the 1994 Virginia high school football state championship[7] after going undefeated in 1985 and making the state semifinals in 1993. They also won the Central Region championships in 1986 and 1993. They were in Group AAA, Division 5 at the time.[6]

The boys'volleyball program won 8 consecutive VHSL State titles (2016 Class 5 Championship and 2017-2023 Class 4 Championships). The 8 titles are the most volleyball championships in VHSL history[8]
