Paterson Islands is a group of small islands lying 7.4 kilometres (4 nmi) northeast ofKlung Islands, 3.7 kilometres (2 nmi) southeast ofWiltshire Rocks andKitney Island, and 5.6 kilometres (3 nmi) southeast ofSmith Rocks, close along the coast ofMac. Robertson Land. Mapped by Norwegian cartographers from air photos taken by theLars Christensen Expedition, 1936–37. Named byAntarctic Names Committee of Australia (ANCA) forA.J.F. Paterson, supervisory technician (radio) atMawson Station, 1963.
