Pashons (Coptic:Ⲡⲁϣⲟⲛⲥ,[paˈʃons]), also known asPachon (Ancient Greek:Παχών,Pakhṓn) andBachans[1] (بشنس,Bashans), is the ninth month of the ancientEgyptian andCoptic calendars. It lasts between May 9 and June 7 of theGregorian calendar.

The month of Pashons is also the first month of the Season ofShemu (Harvest) inAncient Egypt, when the Egyptians harvest their crops throughout the land.

Name

The name of the month of Pashons comes fromKhonsu, adeity of the moon or of theTheban trinity and the son ofAmun-Ra andMut.
