Parsons Xtreme Golf (abbreviatedPXG) is an Americansports equipment manufacturing company that designs, markets, and sells a line of custom fittedgolf equipment products and accessories, mainlyclubs. The company is based inScottsdale,Arizona and was established in 2014 byBob Parsons, founder ofweb hosting serviceGoDaddy.

History

[edit]

Parsons Xtreme Golf was founded in 2014 byBob Parsons, an Americanentrepreneur, billionaire, andphilanthropist.[1][2][3][4][5] He is an avid golfer who made his money in the technology industry[6] and now invests in ventures that support his passions.[7] Unsatisfied with manygolf clubs on the market, he decided to launch his own golf equipment company.[2] Parsons claims to have spent $350,000 annually searching for the right equipment.[3] He stated that he decided to enter the golf club manufacturing business in an attempt to build a better golf club.[8]

The company hiredMike Nicolette, aPGA Tour professional in the 1970s and '80s,[3][9] who served assenior product designer forPING prior to joining PXG.[4][8] PXG also hired Brad Schweigert, formerly PING’s director of engineering, to assume the role ofChief Product Officer.[3] Given no time or budget constraints,[1][2] Schweigert and Nicolette worked on designing the first iteration of what would become the PXG 0311 forged iron.

According to Parsons, PXG’s breakthrough came when its engineers identified the material to fill the hollow-bodied club head.[10] Athermoplastic elastomer wasinjection molded into the club’s hidden cavity adding cushioning to the club’s thin face,[1][3] improving performance and feel.[2]

In January 2015,Ryan Moore announced that he would be using a set of PXG prototype irons and wedges in the PGA Tour that year.[6][9][11]

Currently, the company offers a full line of equipment includingdrivers, woods, hybrids, wedges, irons, andputters. As of December 2016, the company had grown to seventy employees.[12]
