Panay Gulf is an extension of theSulu Sea, reaching between the islands ofPanay andNegros in thePhilippines. The gulf contains the island-province ofGuimaras and extends into theIloilo Strait, between Panay and Guimaras, and intoGuimaras Strait, between Guimaras and Negros. Guimaras Strait connects Panay Gulf with theVisayan Sea.
ThePort of Iloilo is the busiest port on the gulf, which is a major route used by ships plying the areas betweenIloilo City,Bacolod, andZamboanga further to the south.[1]
