Thepalmar carpal arch is a joining of anartery to an artery, acirculatory anastomosis, known as an arterio-arterial anastomosis. The two connected arteries are thepalmar carpal branch of the radial artery and thepalmar carpal branch of the ulnar artery.
Thisanastomosis is joined by a branch from theanterior interosseous artery above, and by recurrent branches from thedeep palmar arch below, thus forming a palmar carpal network which supplies the articulations of the wrist andcarpus.
