Palkovice is a municipality and village inFrýdek-Místek District in theMoravian-Silesian Region of theCzech Republic. It has about 3,500 inhabitants.
Palkovice consists of two municipal parts (in brackets population according to the 2021 census):[2]
The name is derived from the personal name Palek, meaning "the village of Palek's people".[3]
Palkovice is located about 4 kilometres (2 mi) southwest ofFrýdek-Místek and 18 km (11 mi) south ofOstrava. It lies in theMoravian-Silesian Foothills. The highest point is the hill Kubánkov at 660 m (2,170 ft) above sea level.
The first written mention of Palkovice is from 1437. The village was probably founded in the first half of the 14th century. Myslík was first mentioned in 1564.[3]

There are no railways or major roads passing through the municipality.
The main landmark of Palkovice is the Church of Saint John the Baptist. It was built in the late Renaissance style in 1631.[6]
