Palek, also known aspaleg ormineovaheng, is a traditionalFilipinoalcoholic drink from theBatanes Islands made from fermentedsugarcane juice.[1][2] It is flavored with ebony bark (Diospyros ferrea), which turns the drink black.[3] It is traditionally served in a halved coconut shell and passed from one person to the next.[4]
