Palakkad MEMU Car Shed is an ISO certifiedmotive power depot facility for maintainingMEMU rakes, situated atPalakkad in theIndianstate ofKerala.[1] It is one of the fourMEMU rake maintenance sheds serving theSouthern Railway zone of theIndian Railways and the first MEMU Shed in Kerala.[2][3]
Railway proposedMEMU Car sheds inPalakkad andKollam in 2008's Indian Railway Budget.[4]PalakkadMEMU shed inaugurated on 1 January 2011.[5] TheKollam MEMU Shed was formally commissioned on 1 December 2013, five years after its completion.[6]
