Paimio (Finnish:[ˈpɑi̯mio];Swedish:Pemar) is atown andmunicipality ofFinland.

It is located in theprovince ofWestern Finland and is part of theSouthwest Finlandregion. The municipality has a population of 11,241 (30 June 2025)[2] and covers an area of 242.26 square kilometres (93.54 sq mi) of which 3.89 km2 (1.50 sq mi) is water.[1] Thepopulation density is 47.13 inhabitants per square kilometre (122.1/sq mi). The municipality is unilinguallyFinnish.

Paimio centre is called Vista, divided by the church hill to Upper Vista (Ylä-Vista) and Lower Vista (Ala-Vista).

Important buildings

Paimio is best known forPaimio Sanatorium operating as a part ofTurku University Hospital. It was built in 1932 and designed by architectAlvar Aalto and originally served as atuberculosissanatorium.
