He was elected to theTamil Nadu legislative assembly as aDravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate fromAnthiyur constituency in1996 election and served asAdi Dravidar Welfare Minister during1996-2001.Now he was elected asMember of Rajyasabha in 2020.[1]
