Panneerselvam Iniyan (born 13 September 2002) is an Indianchess professional player. He is India's 61st player to be awarded the title ofGrandmaster byFIDE.[1] He won theIndian Chess Championship in 2025.
He achieved the first GM norm in June 2017 at the "Ciutat deMontcada" open, the second in February 2018 at theBöblingen open, the third in July 2018 at theBarberà del Vallès open.[2]
Other results were a 4th place at theAndorra open in 2017;[3] 2nd afterRichard Rapport in the Coppa Vergani atVillorba (Italy) in January 2018.
In April 2019, he placed equal 1st-8th at theDubai Open with 7/9 (Maxim Matlakov won the event on tiebreak).[4]
In July 2019, he won theCommonwealth Championship U18 atNew Delhi with 7/7; in the same month, he was second at the Thailand Chess Festival ofPattaya.[5]
In February 2025, he placed equal 1st-2nd at theCappelle-la-Grande Open with 7½/9 (French IMMahel Boyer won the event on tiebreak).[6]
In March 2025, he won the Cannes Chess Open with 7½/9 ahead of IM Aradhya Garg &Kazybek Nogerbek.[7]
In July 2025, he placed equal 1st-2nd at the Dole Open with 7½/9 along withJan Malek. He won the event after blitz tiebreaks.[8]
In October 2025, he won theNational championship on tiebreak, tying with IMGoutham Krishna H with 9/11.[9]
