Pánfilo Eugenio Escobar Amarilla (born 7 September 1974, inLuque) is aParaguayan football formerdefender who last played forRiver Plate. He played professionally in Paraguay, Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador.
Escobar started his career in 2000 atGuaraní before playing forSportivo Luqueño. In 2003, he was transferred toClub Nacional from Asunción where he saw limited playing time, thus he moved to Bolivian clubBlooming on a loan in 2004.[1] The following year, he returned to Nacional and played there until the end of the 2006 season. Later, he went abroad to play forDeportes Quindío in Colombia andTécnico Universitario in Ecuador.[2] After a short stint withGeneral Díaz of theLiga Paraguaya: Segunda División, joined in June 2011 toClub River Plate (Asunción).[3]
In 2001, Escobar earned 3 caps for theParaguay national team.[4] He was also a member of the squad that participated inCopa América 2001.
