Denmark – country located inScandinavia ofNorthern Europe.[1] It is the southernmost of theNordic countries. The mainland is bordered to the south byGermany; Denmark is southwest ofSweden and south ofNorway. Denmark borders both theBaltic and theNorth Sea. The country consists of a large peninsula,Jutland (Jylland) and many islands, most notablyZealand (Sjælland),Funen (Fyn),Lolland,Falster andBornholm as well as hundreds of minor islands often referred to as the DanishArchipelago. Denmark has long controlled the approach to the Baltic Sea (in a concept known asdominium maris baltici), and these waters are also known as theDanish straits.
