Abkhazia is ade factoindependent state[1][2][3][4][5][6] located inEurasia whosede juresovereignty is only recognized byRussia,Nicaragua,Venezuela,Nauru and the disputed states ofSouth Ossetia andTransnistria. The rest of the world's states consider Abkhazia to bede jure part ofGeorgia.[7]

Abkhazia is located in the westernCaucasus, on the eastern coast of theBlack Sea. On the north, it borders theRussian Federation, on the east Georgia'sSamegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region.
