Ourayia is a genus of extinctomomyidprimate from theUinta Formation.
Ourayia had reducedcanines and largerincisors when compared to other basal primates, likeNotharctus. They also have 1 less premolar thannotharctines.[1] Compared to other omomyids from the time,Ourayia is considered large, weighing around 1,500 grams.[2] They had enlarged orbits, like most omomyids.[1] Some authors posit thatOurayia descended fromHemiacodon.[1]
Historically, species ofOurayia have been assigned toMytonius andMicrosyops,[3] however they were moved toOurayia byCharles Lewis Gazin in 1958.[1]
